BONZAI (Includes framing upon request)

48 X 48"

COLLAGE, MIXED MEDIA, SUSHI MENUS, WOOD, UV COATING FOR PROTECTION

This painting was done for a restaurant in Chicago. Feed The Beast, a very new restaurant at the time in the neighborhood I grew up in North Center/ Lincoln Square, Chicago, Illinois. The Owner, Chris, let me fill it up with baseball art and celebrated with an opening on "opening day," 2007. I sold 3 pieces in that show. Kousuke Fukudome hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game that day. They went on to lose in extra innings. That was their season. They won 90+ games, first place and then got swept by the Dodgers in the first round. This piece was rented out by another restaurant 6 months later. Then came T-shirts, posters, Jersey's of course, "FUCKUDOME 1" It just sounds awesome. I mean come on... Fanatics went as far as... Head bands. Yes people walked around in Fukudome, "Samurai/Japanese Warrior" Head bands?! Insane.

People loved it and the Fukudome phenomenon was alive. I was the first person to celebrate him here in Chicago and The States... At least as much as I knew. This is for the avid Cubs fan. The real baseball fans. Done on thick wood panel and painted over sushi menus. It is sealed with acrylic hardening gel and polyurethane. Looks good in white frame. Meant to be drilled directly into a wall with available holes. This painting will never go out of style. Especially if you remember. The Kosuke Fukudome phenomenon. Mixed media, always, Nicholas Conlon
