The Handbook
This piece is one I was thinking about the entire time I spent in the cook county correctional facility for activity I am completely rehabilitated. I took the handbook home with me and carried it everywhere I went while inside even being ridiculed. I knew what I wanted from it and I knew I didn't want to lose it. "The Handbook," Cook County Inmate Handbook, has been disassembled and glued on to the canvas collage style. This is the actual "Cook County Department of Corrections," inmate handbook. There is white acrylic enamel and several layers of gloss gel to harden the paper. This piece would look great in a black frame. Ask us about framing!!! It is signed in white on white on the lower right hand corner as not to take away from the imagery
I AM FREE. Is then written in 10" big black block letters over the paper in an ironic statement of freedom. Some people will tell you that you are not free. That the government or media or marketing or money or your parents or loved ones or ANYONE else is in control of you. It is not true. True freedom is inside of you. You are born free. Live free. Laugh free. Love free. Believe in yourself. Tell yourself when you are in doubt; I AM FREE.
