"DON'T MISS THE FORREST FOR THE TREES. That's the title of this piece. That's an old saying. It means, don't miss the big picture for all the tiny details. Don't get distracted or bogged down by all the little nuances of life. Don't forget about the bigger plan. Don't fall off your game because of something small. And don't give up because you had a bad day. Or 7... Keep your eyes on the prize. That's what I think. What about you?"
That's what this painting is all about. But... When you see it from a distance it's gray, light gray, the latex paint used is actually called, "Gray Owl" by Benjamin Moore. It has a few white lines and some texture but mostly it's just gray. Until you start to go towards the painting and you get up close and you look inside, you see the tiny details. YOU SEE THE TREES!!! You see the texture of their bodies, the sinew of the bark, their imperfections and beauty. A forrest with no beginning, no end and for some reason you forget that it's gray. For a few seconds you're in a green, lush, beautiful forrest and you can see EVERYTHING.
