NO NEGATIVE SPACE, 22 x 28", Canvas, Mixed Media, Nicholas Conlon, 2022
This piece is special because it goes against some of the rules of abstract painting. One in particular, that is used as double entendre here and that is the use of negative space. In abstract painting there is a soft rule that one may want to use something called "negative space," which is space with nothing painted, essentially, it is used for the viewer to rest their eyes. So the painting does not seem so "busy." This piece ironically does not have that and yet it does. But no by the rules... Plus we don't really like "negative" spaces or negativity at all really here at Nicknickers. So that's where this piece comes in. We want to go against the grain a little. To go against the norm and the rules... That's just us. And we love this piece and everything going on. We hope you do to. It definitely needs and yearns and deserves more than just one look. Check it out!!!
NO NEGATIVE SPACE
Ironic. Idiotic. Iconic. Nicknickers. You will never be the same.
